Soft play in Liverpool and Merseyside compared: what every centre costs, which ages, and whether adults pay

Nine soft play and indoor play centres across Liverpool, Knowsley, St Helens and the Wirral with the actual prices from their own websites, the age ranges, the toddler areas, the quiet sessions and the sock policy. Updated whenever the venues change them.

Soft play is where the family budget goes to die. Not because any one centre is dear, but because the prices are hidden in booking systems, the adults sometimes pay and sometimes do not, and nobody tells you about the all day rate until you have paid for two hours twice.

So here is the comparison, with every figure taken from each centre's own website on the day we checked, and the cards at the bottom updating whenever a venue changes them.

Bubbles World of Play, New Brighton

Bubbles is two floors at Marine Point for ages 0 to 11, with a baby and toddler area for under 3s, a role play mini city for 1 to 5s and the main frame for under 11s. Term time weekdays are an off peak stay all day rate, with babies 0 to 5 months £2 and 6 to 11 months £4.50; peak sessions are limited to two hours. Adults pay a small entry. Closed Mondays in term time. Free 96 space car park, locked at 6pm, and socks are £1 a pair if you forget.

Monkey Town, Kirkby

Monkey Town is the Dutch chain's new centre on Cherryfield Drive: £9.95 for over 2s, £4.95 for under 2s, adults free, unlimited play time, free parking, open to 8pm Friday to Sunday. A separate under 4s area. A second centre at Brunswick Business Park in Liverpool is advertised as opening in late October 2026.

Willowbees, Newton-le-Willows

Willowbees is St Helens Council's centre inside the leisure centre: £6.50 for two hours on a weekday, £8 at weekends and in holidays, one adult free per paying child and £1 for each extra adult, under 1s free. A 0 to 3 area and a 7.4 metre main frame. It often closes early for parties, so ring 01744 676992 first.

Imagine That!, Wavertree

Imagine That! is role play, art, science and slime in pre booked timed sessions: at weekends and in the holidays £19.95 for a child aged 3 and over, £15.95 for a 1 or 2 year old, £8.95 for an adult and babies free with a paying sibling. Cheaper midweek Toddler Hangout sessions in term time. Free parking.

Activity for All, Upton

Prices are only in the booking system, but booking ahead gets a discount at weekends and the term time Kid's Meal Deal is £12 for a session and a meal. Quiet Time sessions run Wednesdays at 6pm.

The ones for bigger kids

Ninja Warrior UK at Speke is an inflatable obstacle course for 4 and up with Mini Ninjas soft play for 0 to 3s; prices are in the booking system, parking is free, and spectators watch free from the cafe. Flip Out Aintree is £15 a head for 90 minutes Tuesday to Thursday and £20 Friday to Sunday, same for adults and children, with a toddler soft play, Toddler Takeover sessions for 5 and under, free parking and an ASD session on Tuesdays. Jump Inc at Hunts Cross is £10.99 for an hour of Open Jump for 4 and up, Toddler Takeover £7.95, with SEN sessions on Mondays at 6pm. Inflation Wirral in Wallasey opens weekends and holidays with Toddler Time at 9am and Additional Needs sessions on Sundays at 10am.

Before you set off

  • Book the big ones, turn up to the small onesThe safari park, the big soft plays and anything with a timed entry sell out in school holidays. Parks, beaches, most museums and the libraries never do. Every card says whether you need to book.
  • Train beats car for the coast and the centreMerseyrail stops next to the beach at Crosby, Freshfield and Southport, and under the museums at Liverpool Central. Under 5s travel free and a Saveaway covers the day after 9.30 on weekdays and all day at weekends.
  • How we checkEvery listing is rechecked against the venue's own website every week, and each card shows the date it was last confirmed. If something has changed since, the Tell us link on every page reaches a person who fixes it.
