Privacy note
Short, because we keep very little.
Who we are
FamDays is a family days out guide for Merseyside run by Peter Lynch, a parent in Liverpool. We are the data controller for anything described here. Contact: hello@famdays.co.uk.
Browsing the site
You can use the whole site without telling us anything. We do not run advertising trackers. Venue pages offer a Google map that loads only when you press Show map; at that point Google's own privacy policy applies to the map. Your saved days out live in your own browser and never leave it. The site's typefaces load from Google Fonts, so your browser sends Google an ordinary font request (which includes your IP address) when a page opens. The site is hosted by Netlify and its data sits in Supabase, both of which keep ordinary server logs (such as your IP address) for security for a short period. We do not set cookies and we do not use analytics that identify you.
The Friday email
If you sign up we keep your email address, the time you signed up and the wording you agreed to, so that we can send you the weekly email and prove you asked for it. That is the only thing it is used for, and we send it because you asked us to (your consent is our legal basis). Every issue has a one click unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing removes you from the list straight away. We delete unsubscribed addresses within three months, keeping only a note that you once asked us not to email you. We do not sell or share the list.
The tester group
If you join the tester group during our soft launch we keep the same details as for the Friday email, plus whatever you tell us when you reply or talk to us about the guide. We use it only to improve FamDays. We may quote what you said without your name; we will never publish your name or your children's details without asking you first. Tester notes are deleted within a year of the soft launch ending.
Listing a venue
If you buy a listing we keep the venue details you give us, your contact email and a record of the payment. Card details go straight to Stripe and never touch our systems; Stripe's own privacy policy covers that. We use your contact email to send the receipt, to ask questions about the listing and to tell you when it is about to lapse. If you upload a photo we keep it with the listing, credited to you, for as long as the venue is on the site.
Tell us about a place
If you email us a tip or a correction, or use the "Spotted something wrong" box on a page, we keep what you wrote, the page you were on and, if you gave it, your email address so we can reply and check the facts. The box also records your browser type to help us spot abuse. We act on the note, then delete it within a year. We do not publish your name unless you ask us to.
Where it is kept and for how long
Everything above is kept by two hosting companies, Supabase (the database) and Netlify (the website and its forms), protected by access keys that only we hold. Some of Netlify's processing happens in the United States, under the standard contractual safeguards UK law requires. We keep personal information only for as long as the purpose above needs it, as described in each section, and we review what we hold at least once a year.
Your rights
You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it or ask us to delete it, and we will do so within a month. Email hello@famdays.co.uk. If you are unhappy with how we handle your information you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Children
The site is written for parents and carers. We do not knowingly collect anything from children, and we do not publish photos of identifiable children without the consent of the person who uploaded them.
